As a foodie, I read countless reviews before deciding to take my mom here for her special b-day dinner. What a disappointment. I think we were in and out in under an hour. Her meat was overcooked...my salmon was dry and my salad over dressed...not at all what I had expected after reading 5-star reviews. It was incredibly overpriced for the quality of food we received (over $100 for 2-people including 1-bottle of wine). One of the servers had a wicked cold and was hacking up a storm and had a snotty nose..the man at the table next to us must have had a cold and blew his nose incessantly (which I know the server/manager couldn't help) which made it even more difficult to eat the food set before us. We took dessert to go (had enough of the nose blowing) and it was lackluster and mushy. Sorry...but I wouldn't eat here again. I realize that many others have given this restaurant 5-star reviews...but I can't even begin to think of the meals we received as anything more than 2-stars at best.

Just went for the second time, this time for breakfast. The cranberry mimosas are nothing special, just champagne slightly tinted pink with dried cranberries floating up and down in the bubbles, looking nothing like the photo someone else has posted. The glass it came in was smeary around the rim, ugh. The table had not been wiped between parties and there were dried liquids on the surface. Watching the waitstaff, we noticed that tables are not wiped immediately after clearing when a party leaves, but one was wiped when a party was being seated, slowing down the process. This may be nitpicking, but a fine dining experience, even for breakfast, needs to be better organized. The place was not busy at all, maybe four parties when we arrived, but it took a good ten minutes for water and black coffee to arrive. The coffee was cold when it finally got there. My breakfast crepes were absolutely swimming in Hollandaise, way too much. Hollandaise is very rich, and should dress the dish, not drown it. The smoked salmon Florentine had PERFECTLY poached eggs and the right amount of Hollandaise for the dish. Someone also needs to proofread the notices posted there: "Reserve you spot now", "Cream brule" and "Mari Gras" should not have passed muster. Their menu for New Year's Eve looks like a MUCH better value and much more interesting than their rivals across the street are offering at the same price point. We may go back for that.

I had dinner with friends last night at this restaurant, this was the 4th time I have been there. The first three experiences were fine, one of those times I was there with a large group of 11 people and although the service was slow, its more understandable with a larger group. Last night the service was absolutely HORRIBLE. We sat at out table for over 15 minutes without even being acknowledged as staff walked by, polished glasses in the bar and stood around. Finally I went to ask the hostess to send waitstaff over, which she did about 5 minutes later. It was downhill from there. It took over 25 minutes to get our wine, when we asked for bread (at that point we were starving) it took another 20 minutes just for that. When our food did come out 45 minutes after we had ordered it, my entree was not what I had ordered. Our waitress seemed confused by the whole thing. It took another 20 minutes to get the correct food, and then she never once came and checked on us. We had to hunt her down for our checks, which took yet another 20 minutes to produce. And of course the charge ticket on one of them was incorrect. It took another 20 minutes to fix that! All in all, our simple dinner took over 2 hours, a fair amount of it spent trying to get the waitress's attention. We won't be back

Driving from Silver City, NM to El Paso, TX, I decided I needed a break from driving and thought Las Cruces would be a good place to stop. After perusing Yelp, I found that Savoy de Mesilla was nearby. I wasn't quite sure if they were open -- Yelp said no, their website said yes. I took a chance and was pleased to find that they are now open 11am-9pm on Fridays. Their website and front door states that their happy hour is M-F 4-6pm, however, I was slightly disappointed that my server didn't mention their happy hour until after I finished eating. I arrived around 4:30 -- plenty of time to take advantage of happy hour. But no matter, because an entree had caught my eye and I wouldn't have had room for anything else anyway. The server brought out some sourdough bread and raisin bread with green chile butter on the side -- so good! I ordered the salmon garlic naan, which came with a soup, salad, cole slaw, or fries. I highly recommend the corn chowder; it was delicious. Every bite was full of corn, just like I like it. I had asked if the soup had meat, and it was awesome that the server made sure to check for me. It has chicken broth, FYI for you vegetarians out there. My total came out to $12 ($12.95 with tax), which is a great deal for all that good food!

Dessert, science experiment, delicious, unique! Definitely made me think I was on vacation. I did not dine in for a full dinner, I was in need of coffee and yes a little dessert. I was intrigued by the bacon wrapped dates, hatch pecan encrusted chile rellenos and the sliders. Their happy hour menu was vast and drinks are WINE reds my faves and variety of beer selections. I'm going back to do more "errands in old mesilla" I will definitely stop by at Savoy. I highly recommend. The staff was knowledgeable with pairing and the most delicious coffee I have tasted aside from my husbands! ;)

Exceptional service, a creative menu, excellent food! Dennis, the long time manager is a gem! We were delighted to find such a great place for dinner. Great attention to detail and presentation. I don't usually write reviews, but was too impressed not to leave one after such a great dining experience! Kim C. - Spokane, Washington

Again, we visited for my dad's birthday, but this time there was only one waitress for the whole restaurant. The waitress was lovely but the service was painful and the food took over an hour to hit the table. When I spend $160 on dinner in Las Cruces (ow, it hurts to write that), I expect something more seamless and less anxiety-provoking. Sorry, Savoy, I can no longer recommend you. Also Tatsu, you keep opening restaurants that start off ok and then get crappy. What's up with that?!

This is a great restaurant and offers some innovative entrees that are not run-of-the-mill. That might be somewhat standard for a large city but it's quite rare in Las Cruces. There's no specific theme to the options, they take ideas from all over while also including local/regional flavors such as Hatch chiles. I ordered the Goji Sea Scallops and Shrimp. The scallops could have used a more aggressive sear in order to have a nicer crust and more flavor but otherwise they were well cooked (no small feat). The goji berry sauce was subtle and well balance - nice work. And the cranberry almond quinoa couscous was a great base - tasty!

I ordered the Seafood Crepes. This consists of two French style crepes filled with tiger shrimp, scallops, and spinach, and soft scrambled eggs, topped with a saffron cream sauce, and served with Savoy potatoes. The price? ... $12. The restaurant is classy with excellent service and outstanding food at very reasonable prices. We had 7 in our group and everyone was more than impressed. I was so pleased that I picked up the tab ... what was I thinking? We'll be back many times in the future.

This is probably the best high end restaurant in Cruces. I went on my birthday and had the baby back ribs which were delicious. However, we went tonight for the special NYE dinner and I thought it was just OK, the croutons in the salad and French onion soup were obviously boxed, and the tomato in the Caprese salad were underripe, also there was no basil. Also the soup didn't have any cheese melted on top. The seafood pie was pretty good but not great. Champagne wasn't included, for 58 bucks a head I expected a bit more. So when I say this is the best high end restaurant in Cruces, its pretty good, but not exceptional. In a more discerning market in a bigger city it wouldn't really be noteworthy. But the food isn't bad, you won't be served a bad meal and the service is good.

Excellent and what a nice find! Rolled into Las Cruces late Sunday afternoon and saw that a few locals had really given this place some nice feedback. Decided to head over there and give it a shot myself. I walked in and was immediately greeted by three different people, two wait staff and I believe a manager/possible owner. Either way, they were all very courteous/polite/friendly...again which is pretty nice. I travel weekly and trust me, not all places welcome you like this. I sat up at the bar and decided to go lite. I had a Caesar with grilled salmon and shrimp. I started however with a bowl of clam chowder. Now having grown up back in the north east, I'm a chowder snob. That said, the chowder wasn't bad. I'd add a little more "chunks" to it though - a little potato and celery etc goes a long way and never hinders the clam flavor - just makes it heartier. Anyway - told you I'm a chowder snob but this chowder certainly took care of my "chowder jones"! So, thank you. The Caesar with salmon and shrimp was actually pretty solid too - nice dressing and the fish and shrimp were cooked perfectly...seriously. I will definitely hit this place up again on my next trip down for business and I'll be sure to "diner-up" and try something more off the main portion of the menu. The selection looked to be very eclectic and interesting...again, a nice surprise for southern NM!!!

WOW!!!! A restaurant of this caliber in NM?!?! Great food, good service, very well decor'd in a Japanese like them that is clean and open. Chef Tatsu is famous and its on display w/all his accolades and famous Chef's whom have visited this location and or he's competed against etc. Food wise, great food, we went for brunch but saw others having lunch and all looked delicious. They start you w/this cinnamon toast like stick w/a dressed up like butter, delicious. I had chicken fried steak w/eggs and potatoes, freaking awesome. Wife had eggs benedict w/potatoes and she said the eggs were well poached, which local places around here just can't seem to get right. For "desert" we had the custard french toast, holy toledo, it was so damn good, it is desert, it's alot for just 1 person to eat by themselves. Price wise not expensive at all, $39 total that included coffee, ice tea and a mimosa. We'll def be going back for dinner. If you know where the Harley dealership is in Las Cruses is 1mi south.

The food was delightful and the service was friendly and professional. We had the rack of lamb, duck, and scallops with the nitrogen ice creme, and crème brulle, all the flavors were delicate and refined and absolutely delicious

This is some of the best cuisine in Las Cruces, with a trained chef. It's a little pricey for this town, but worth it.

Looking for a nice dinner is Las Cruces and found this little gem on yelp! Dinner was delicious! They only serve beer and wine and had a great little green chile butter for the bread. I had the pecan crusted goat cheese and portables salad. It was great! My husband had the ribs with Asian pear glaze. They were Amazing! Good food, great wine and unique desserts.

Well, definitely upscale for the Las Cruces population where you can find a Mexican restaurant on every corner. Design, eye appeal and ambience was very nice. Servers were very attentive to your every need and kept your water and bread dish full. Food was ok. My wife ordered the pecan crusted salmon with shrimp and it came exactly as described. However my bet is that the pecan crusted salmon was pre-made or frozen, not fresh. I ordered the filet mignon with a reduction plum sauce. It came with mashed potatoes and french fries? I was very disappointed with my meal. First off the filet mignon was choice meat, not prime. It was dry and overcooked (I ordered it medium rare, yet looked and tasted like it was well done). Needless to say I sent it back. So as the wife ate I watched her eat and kept an eye on the time. 10 minutes later I received my order. As it was served the portion looked a lot smaller (probably about 3-4 oz. of filet). Enough said. After an appetizer, entree and a bottle of wine the bill arrived, over $100. Thank goodness we received the Yelp check in free gift (micro salt & pepper shakers) or I would have felt slighted by the whole affair. As nice as the place looks and feels, it should have higher quality food served. Definitely only earned 2 stars in my opinion.

My first experience at Savoy was at their Mother's Day Brunch. The food was absolutely delicious. The french toast and pancakes with cinnamon butter were over the top. The jalapeño bacon and angus steak with red wine demi-glace were phenomenal. I'm looking forward to my next meal there and glad to have food of this caliber & quality in Las Cruces.

PRETTY, PRETENTIOUS, AND PRICEY. I will always love Tatsu for bringing Japanese food to the Mesilla Valley decades ago, and we who love Asian food all owe him a debt of gratitude for blazing a trail that has led other Asian genres like Vietnamese, Thai, and now even Korean food to our sleepy little town of Mexican restaurants on every block. But Savoy is a different creature altogether, and it remains to be seen whether Tatsu will be able to make a pricey and pretentious place like this work in a Wal Mart town like Las Cruces. PRETTY Decoratively speaking Savoy is beautifully appointed with a groovy backlit marble bar and an overall cozier feel than the previous tenant, St. Claire's. In fact, I may even say that it's one of the most wall decorated restaurants in Cruces. It still suffers from typical Las Cruces restaurant decoration faux pas of too much light from ceiling level and not enough table-level cozy light either from halogen spots or candles, but by Cruces standards it's very nice. PRETENTIOUS At Savoy, get ready for items like "Thyme Infused Demi-Glace," "Cranberry Almond Quinoa Couscous," and "liquid nitrogen Ice cream" that are just as much of a mouthful to say as they are to eat. Savoy is also the only place in Cruces I know of where you can satisfy your craving (should you have one) for things like snails and fish eggs....all served on square plates. Along with these mysterious delicacies you'll get condiments like ketchup and mustard, salad dressing, and the rather delicious green chile butter served in tiny little thimbles that will barely cover you for one french fry or piece of bread, much less your side of fries or entire loaf of bread. And when you're paying the Savoy prices, it just seems that you should get an acceptably commensurate serving of simple condiments. Overall the food is OK. Believe it or not basic things like the green chile butter and french fries were the standouts, even over my entree of Garden burger (only decent...not as good as Morningside grillers that you can get at the grocery store) and Ceasar Salad (again, only decent....not as good as St Clair's). PRICEY I would have tried the chicken, until I noticed that it was more expensive than the rather delicious salmon at St Claire's...$18 for chicken! Yowza! Even the veggie entree is $18. And all red meats will set you back around $30 after tax. So to sum it up: it's better than average, but for those prices, they'll need the food to be not just decent but stellar, and be a little more generous with portions.

Just had a yummy breakfast at Savoy. We ordered one savory and one sweet entree (French toast creme brûlée) so we could try a variety. The kitchen did the split for us, gorgeous presentation. Staff was very attentive. We will return!

The restaurant is very upscale for our area, but thats ok and I'm not complaining about that whatsoever, but I would prefer to get what I paid for and when we left and got home my husband ate a bowl of cereal because he was still hungry (not a big guy) and we had just spent $70+ at dinner! The ambiance is REALLY awesome! I would go there for drinks and maybe appetizers next time. the outdoor seating is really cool and there is a fire bit in each table. we went for a friends birthday and I had made the reservations that same day. the food was acceptable but nothing that great-I had shrimp and scalips and had 4 of each.

My wife and I ended up at Savoy de Mesilla on her birthday. We've lived in Las Cruces for 4 years and have commented often that there's a lack of "fine dining" establishments and thankfully, now there is another choice to add to our small list of restaurants for a special occasion. The restaurant is simply decorated, but very attractive and quite elegant. Tables are spaced well so that one doesn't feel crowed, but also doesn't feel isolated. Service was impeccable; we felt that we were well cared for by our server, Megan. Our meals were spectacular! I started with the alligator appetizer which was fun and tasty and had the Duck Breast in cherry sauce which was moist and tender and very flavorful. My wife had the Rack Of Lamb and it may be the best either of us has tasted in Las Cruces. The wine list is not large , but has several interesting options and when my first choice was unavailable, our server, Megan, was able to offer a suggestion that worked very well with my dinner choice. Dessert was Creme Brulee with fruit served in a unique way with an outer bowl with water and a bit of dry ice to create our own plate of fog. This is one of the best restaurants in Las Cruces and affordable enough that we can visit often. Highly recommended!

PRETTY, PALATE SATISFYING, PRICEY. Why is it that whenever a restaurant in Las Cruces is pricey, people insist that it is overpriced? And to state that Las Cruces is a "Wal-Mart" town... really? (Referring to another review here). That having been said, we have been to Savoy de Mesilla but once, and we were impressed. The atmosphere was upscale, nice, quiet, and conducive to an elegant meal. We weren't exactly dressed for the part, but it was lunchtime and a bit more casual (we were not expecting to stop there, but were in the area, had heard about a new restaurant and decided to stop in). Despite our attire, we were not treated like second class citizens. The waitress was cordial, friendly, helpful, and attentive without being obnoxious. The meal came well plated and was infused with a variety of eclectic tastes. When you pay a high price for a meal, you are paying for atmosphere, quality staff, ingredients that you won't find just anywhere, dishes that are both appealing in description, visual appeal, and taste. Yes, it was a bit pricey. But I don't see it as being pretentious. There are some restaurants (that are still in business) in town that ARE pretentious (basically, overpriced fast food). Uhm, this IS an upscale restaurant, not a fast food dive. There are plenty of people in the Las Cruces area who will eat there when they want a nice elegant meal. And there are plenty of people in the Las Cruces area who would occasionally like to have a nice place to eat once in awhile. I feel sorry for another reviewer who apparently has no connection with the cultural vein of Las Cruces.

Please, please, please, if you are traveling on I-10 east or west through Las Cruces, do not miss this gem of a restaurant. I was moving a friend from Philly to San Diego when I found this place almost by accident, and I will say that it was the high point of the entire trip. Chef Tatsu Miyazaki is very talented. He's also doing the food at Ted Turner's Sierra Lodge and Spa and is also working with Richard Branson on the Virgin Gallactic project. Miyazaki's pedigree is reflected in the awards and photos on the walls and exemplified in food so expertly conceived and executed that it left this San Francisco foodie awe-struck. Wait service provided by the lovely, expert Neen on this visit. We hope to return some day.

This place is such a refreshing change from the high-school-cafeteria ambiance of the majority of the restaurants here in Las Cruces. Good, highly usual menu choices. Great service. Is it perfect? No, but it's the best fine dining experience you'll find in LC.

Visiting from out of town and taken here by family who now live here for breakfast. The choices were great, and well prepared. Service was attentive, flexible with bringing additional fruit and chased me down in the parking lot when i forgot my jacket. Lol We had breakfast sliders, omlettes, crepes and french toast all excellent. Highly recommend.

As soon as I decided to relocate to Las Cruces, I knew I had to try Savoy De Mesilla. I was hoping to find some good cuisine here and I did! Simple, elegant dishes packed with flavor. Put this place on your to do list.

Great restaurant! I had the smoked salmon Benedict and my friend had the creme brûlée French toast. Both were beautifully prepared. My eggs were perfectly poached and the holllandaise sauce was light and flavorful. Dennis, the manager, was attentive and our server Diana was outstanding. I highly recommend carving out time to visit.

When I first read the reviews on Yelp of the Savoy, I had a feeling there were some plants there as they all were just too good. But we bit and now we feel the Savoy deserves every single rave it has gotten. It is that good. You would expect to find this quality of food in a city that is known for its cuisine, but it is wonderful that you can experience it in Las Cruces now. The only flaws of our experience were the empty pepper shaker and the paper napkins. Everything else was of the highest quality food, presentation, and service you could want. Think speciality restaurant on a better cruise ship like Celebrity. They have an early bird special that includes bread with chili butter, appetizer, two soups, two salads, and two entrees for 36 smackers. Several of the entrees cost more (our rack of lamb was $8 extra) but you won't be sorry if you go that route. The gourmet mac and cheese was wonderful, the rack of lamb perfect, and every single side, soup, and salad was very high quality, kind of what you would call "high cuisine" from our experience. Make sure to try the alligator appetizer. It is wonderful! The service was professional and cheerful, the ambience is upper class bistro. Table service was elegant with the exception of the paper napkins which actually works fine here. The Savoy deserves every kudo it has received!

I travel extensively and have eaten in some of the very best restaurants. It is finally nice to see a restaurant in Las Cruces that is at that level. The food was fresh, vibrant, and the service was nonstop. The server took time to explain the selections without going overboard. The owner Tatsu is on the map with this concept. The bacon wrapped figs, scallop, and crusted salmon were superb. They also have a nice wine selection as well. I highly recommend this restaurant.

When visitors from real cities come to Las Cruces, I will be sure to take them to Savoy. I've eaten here a few times since they opened their doors, and it has been steadily improving in every way: menu, service, amount of bread and condiments served. We have enjoyed dinner, weekend lunch (before they began offering a brunch menu), and most recently brunch. It really shows that Savoy has a chef, because the dishes have beautifully balanced flavors and are artfully presented. Every item on the menu has been given lots of thought, and there is something here for everyone, including vegetarians. The standards of food and service at Savoy would hold up to those in any major city. This is a welcome breath of fresh air in a town with an otherwise mediocre dining scene. And did I mention it's delicious? Way to class it up!

Just a great big, simple, "Wow." We were driving through Las Cruces on a long cross-country trip and looked for an interesting place to eat. There's nothing at all wrong with Mexican food or steakhouses but we saw the Yelp listing for Savoy and were intrigued. They offered less common food (alligator tail, duck breast) with clever preparations, so we decided to give it a try. To repeat...wow. Completely accidentally we happened in on the night (Sunday) when all bottles of wine are half price. Wow. In no particular order... Short, smart, very reasonably priced wine list. (We had Brancott sauvgnon blanc from New Zealand and a something-something merlot from Washington State that was a drop-dead knockout wine. Even at regular price these were under $30/bottle. With the bread (2 kinds!) they brought some green chile butter. Just because green chiles are cliche around here doesn't mean they're not good, and this butter was good. My rack of lamb was cooked precisely as ordered (medium rare). The server (Dennis) was welcoming, hospitable, not cloying, efficient, appreciative. Neither Dennis nor the restaurant was at all stuffy. Not a thing was wrong with this place. Nothing. Oh, the prices are reasonable, too. We had low expectations - no offense, Las Cruces - but Savoy taught us a thing or two.

The four of us met after a appointment this morning at Savoy de Mesilla for lunch. We started out with the alligator appetizer - GREAT. We had a number of different entrees, all of which were delicious. I had the Spicy Buffalo Burger, stuffed with jack and blue cheese, with mixed greens, tomatoes, onions, and the honey buffalo sauce on a pretzel roll. Terrific. I had as a side, a bowl of mushroom-onion bisque. OUTSTANDING. Service was extraordinarily good. I will definitely return again.
